Deflecto’s new parent company, Acacia Research Corporation, published its second quarter results this week.
The acquisition of Deflecto last October led to the establishment of a new Manufacturing division at Acacia—in anticipation of further deals in the future. In the three and six months ended June 30, 2025, Manufacturing achieved revenue of $29 million and €57.5 million respectively. Adjusted EBITDA for the periods was $1.3 million and $3.7 million.
Commenting on Deflecto’s performance, Acacia CEO MJ McNulty said revenue had improved sequentially and highlighted progress in integration and operational improvements across its three business units—air, transportation safety and consumer products.
While acknowledging ongoing global trade uncertainty, McNulty said the group remained confident in Deflecto’s long-term potential, underpinned by a broad customer base and established market presence. He pointed to changes already underway to improve accountability, reduce overheads, streamline product lines and refine go-to-market strategies.
Tariffs, however, continued to weigh on demand particularly in the consumer products and transportation businesses. McNulty noted that many customers sourcing from China, either directly or via competitors, had delayed purchasing decisions due to uncertainty over global trade flows.
Acacia said it was actively pursuing mitigation strategies such as reshoring some manufacturing and exploring alternative sourcing to reduce reliance on Chinese production.
Despite current headwinds, McNulty insisted that structural improvements were strengthening the business and positioning it for growth once the macroeconomic environment stabilizes. He added that Acacia was applying the same disciplined approach to operations at Deflecto as it had with its successful turnaround of Printronix.
